Succession carries what continues.
It becomes visible
as something moves forward through time.
Passes the flame, carries the lineage, ensures the story moves forward.
This symbol also exists in form
In ancient kingdoms, succession was ritually marked. The crown laid on a new head, the staff placed in younger hands, the ancestral blessing spoken. Beyond rulers, nature itself showed succession: forests renewing after fire, seeds rising where old roots decayed.
Continuity, legacy, renewal. Succession symbolises the sacred flow of responsibility, the act of entrusting what was built to those who come next.
Succession is alive in family, community and leadership. It appears when one season ends and another begins, reminding us that life is carried not by holding on, but by passing forward.
Hold an object of meaning. Imagine offering it to another, whether child, friend or future self. Whisper inwardly: What do I choose to pass on?
Succession endures because every story outlives its teller. The line continues, not broken but renewed, weaving past, present and future into one living thread.
