Ankh
A symbol of life, breath, and enduring presence.

The Piece
This piece was formed in oak and brought to clarity in the Forge of Elaryn.
The wood carries a warm, steady grain that allows the form of the ankh to settle clearly within the square frame. Each line was established with careful precision, creating a quiet contrast between surface and shadow.
The balanced geometry of the symbol gives the piece a grounded presence, allowing the form to stand simply and clearly within the wood.
The Symbol
The ankh is one of the most enduring symbols of ancient Egypt, traditionally representing life and the breath that sustains it.
Its form combines the circle and the cross, suggesting the meeting of eternal continuity and the physical world. For centuries it appeared in temples, carvings, and sacred objects as a sign of vitality and renewal.
Within the Forge it represents the quiet continuity of life, the unseen thread that connects breath, time, and presence.
Status
In the Forge
This piece began with the central axis of the symbol, establishing the vertical balance of the form.
The loop and arms were then defined gradually, allowing the proportions of the ankh to remain steady and centred within the surface.
As light moves across the wood the symbol reveals a calm contrast between depth and grain, giving the impression of a form that has quietly emerged from the material itself.
