Infinity

A symbol of continuity, balance, and the endless unfolding of form

infinity

The Piece

This piece was formed in stone and brought to clarity in the Forge of Elaryn.

The infinity form flows gently across the rounded surface of the stone, allowing the continuous line to settle naturally within the material. Its smooth curve creates a quiet movement that feels both balanced and unbroken.

The simplicity of the form allows the symbol to emerge clearly, giving the piece a calm presence that reflects the idea of continuity held within the mark.

The Symbol

The infinity symbol represents endless continuity; a line that turns back into itself without beginning or end.

Its shape, known in mathematics as the lemniscate, has long been used to represent eternity, balance, and the perpetual flow of existence. The two loops suggest movement between dual forces, held together within a single continuous path.

Across philosophy, mathematics, and symbolic traditions, the infinity form has come to represent the idea that all cycles return, and that existence unfolds without final boundary.

Within the Forge it represents the quiet continuity that runs through all things — the unseen thread that connects past, present, and what is still becoming.

In the Forge

This piece began with the central crossing point of the symbol, establishing the balance between the two loops.

From this centre the line was engraved outward, allowing each curve to remain smooth and continuous across the surface of the stone. The form was shaped gradually so that the movement of the symbol could remain fluid rather than mechanical.

As light moves across the stone the infinity mark reveals a gentle shift between shadow and curve, giving the impression of a form that has quietly emerged from the material itself.
