Octagram
The ancient star of Inanna
A mark of celestial presence and radiant orientation.

The Piece
This piece was formed in stone and brought into clarity in the Forge of Elaryn.
At the centre a star extends outward in eight balanced directions. Around it smaller stars gather, suggesting a quiet constellation forming around a single point of light.
The circular boundary of the stone holds the pattern in calm balance, allowing the symbol to feel both expansive and contained.
The result is a piece that evokes the stillness of the night sky. A small constellation resting within the stone.
The Symbol
The octagram, or eight-pointed star, is one of the oldest celestial symbols known in human culture.
In ancient Mesopotamia it was the sacred emblem of Inanna, goddess of the heavens, love, and cosmic power. Later known as Ishtar, the symbol appeared on temple reliefs, royal seals, and sacred objects as a sign of divine radiance and presence.
The eight rays extend outward from a central point, suggesting both expansion and orientation, the idea that light radiates in all directions while still remaining anchored to a centre.
Because of this the octagram has long been understood as a symbol of guidance, celestial order, and the relationship between human life and the wider rhythms of the cosmos.
Within the Forge the Octagram represents the quiet orientation of the stars; a reminder that even the smallest light can guide the way.
Status
In the Forge
The engraving began with the central star, establishing the point from which the pattern radiates.
From there the eight rays were carved outward with measured precision, creating the geometry that anchors the symbol. The surrounding stars were then placed carefully around the centre to suggest a constellation forming around a guiding light.
The intention was to keep the design clear and balanced, allowing the ancient symbol to emerge naturally from the stone.
As light moves across the surface, the small stars and radiating lines catch subtle shadows, giving the impression of a constellation quietly resting within the material.
